Sustainability

At Bras Coupe Hunting & Fishing Club, founded in 1907, sustainability forms the core of our longstanding tradition of responsible outdoor stewardship. With access to 28 private lakes teeming with brook trout, smallmouth bass, walleye, and northern pike, we prioritize the preservation of this untouched natural environment. Our members and management are committed to maintaining the ecological balance of these waters and surrounding forests, ensuring that the club's remote, wilderness character remains intact for future generations.
We actively support sustainable fishing through practices such as annual fish stocking programs, funded through membership contributions, to bolster healthy populations and promote long-term viability. By limiting access to a private membership model and encouraging catch-and-release where appropriate, we minimize overfishing and protect biodiversity in our lakes. Our operations emphasize low-impact activities, including portaging, canoeing, and the use of provided outboard motorboats, all conducted with respect for the fragile Laurentian ecosystem.
Beyond the waters, Bras Coupe Club strives for a minimal environmental footprint in every aspect of our facilities and activities. From rustic accommodations heated by propane and wood-burning stoves to buffet-style meals featuring local and seasonal ingredients when possible, we promote resource efficiency and waste reduction. As stewards of this historic wilderness retreat, we remain dedicated to conservation principles that honor the legacy of over a century of thoughtful enjoyment of nature's bounty.
